Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan with participation of Japanese banks will implement investment projects “Expansion of the backbone and multiservice data transmission network” and “Modernization of switching centers using IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystems)”.
The government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution on measures to service the loan of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and the commercial banks of Japan.
According to the document, the projects will be implemented with the participation of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC).
The project “Expansion of the backbone and multi-service data transmission network” envisages expansion of the backbone network for optical channel compression technology (DWDM) and digital radio relay equipment.
Toyota Tsusho Corporation (Japan) won the tender for the implementation of these projects, the resolution said.
The total cost of the investment project “Expansion of the backbone and multiservice data transmission network” in terms of expanding the backbone network in optical channel multiplexing technology (DWDM) is US$56.01 million. Japanese banks allocated US$52.11 million in credit for this project (JBIC - US$44 , 3 million and SMBC - US$7.81 million).
At the same time, funds for US$52.12 million will be used to purchase equipment and services, and US$3.88 million will be the cost of construction and installation works, financial costs of the investment period and other expenses.
The resolution emphasizes that 15% of the value of contracts concluded in the framework of investment projects will be financed with an SMBC loan and 85% of a preferential JBIC loan.
