Jamshid Kuchkarov meets with the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On March 12 of this year, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov met with the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Tatiana Proskuryakova.

The main macroeconomic reforms planned by the government for the current year as part of the Uzbekistan 2030 strategy were discussed at the meeting.

In particular, the parties discussed issues of reforming energy, transport, telecommunications networks, improving the business environment and transforming state-owned enterprises.

The meeting participants noted the progress achieved in the implementation of the partnership program between the World Bank Group and Uzbekistan for the period 2022-2026.

The goal of this program is to help the country achieve specific socio-economic results, such as reducing poverty, expanding the private sector, developing human capital and creating a green economy.

It was also noted that the number and quality of projects implemented by the Government of Uzbekistan jointly with the World Bank in various sectors of the economy has increased. One of such projects is the recently approved project for the development of the digital economy in Uzbekistan.

The meeting participants also discussed the projects being developed.

Following the meeting, the participants expressed their readiness to continue an active dialogue as part of the implementation of reforms aimed at creating an inclusive market economy and improving the well-being of the country’s citizens.
