IX Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art opens in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 October, the grand opening of the IX Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art took place in Tashkent. The event dedicated to 2022 - "The Year of Honoring Human Dignity and Mahalla" was organized by the Academy of Arts in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.

Deputy Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Nusratilla Zikrillaev read out the congratulations of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov.

“The ninth Tashkent International Biennale is held to demonstrate all types of contemporary art, such as painting, sculpture, graphics, installation, video art, photo art, to support new ideas and promising principles that affect the development of art,” the congratulation says. “This event will also create ample opportunities for fruitful cooperation between artists from Uzbekistan and other countries.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, People’s Artist Akmal Nuriddinov noted that the Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art has been held every two years since 2001.

After the opening ceremony, an exhibition of Polish artists was organized in the Central Exhibition Hall, as well as a master class for young artists by the British artist Yunus Safardie. In addition, an exhibition of Uzbek and foreign photo artists was opened at the Tashkent House of Photography.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, within five days art lovers from such countries as the USA, Argentina, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bulgaria, Brazil, Great Britain, Hungary, Germany, Israel, Spain, Italy, Canada, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan , Kuwait, Lithuania, Malaysia, Egypt, the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Poland, Russia, Romania, 35 artists from Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tunisia, Philippines, France, China, India, Iran, as well as local master artists will present their works of art and will have the opportunity to establish mutual communication and cooperation.

The Tashkent International Biennale serves as an open platform for cultural exchange in the field of fine arts, acquaintance with the modern creative potential of different countries, and discussion of topical issues of contemporary art.

The exhibitions of the Biennale present samples of world and national art. Dialogues, exchange of creative experience with well-known foreign figures of contemporary fine and conceptual art are organized. Scientific and practical conferences will be held with the participation of representatives of the most prestigious scientific institutions in the world.

The Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art will end on 28 October 2022.

It should be noted that the event, held in Tashkent for the ninth time, serves to bring peoples together, a solid bridge between representatives of the world fine arts, creative dialogue, glorification of the name of Uzbekistan, which has a rich heritage in art.
