Presently demand for Uzbek cotton has risen to a significant amount even in the Asian countries like China, Singapore, Bangladesh, and Turkey.
Cotton from the region has been able to carve a niche for itself in this market and a commodity exchange in Dubai has started selling cotton on a commercial basis.
To maintain its position as an active participant in the world cotton trade deals, and expand its sphere towards new export destinations, Uzbekistan has organized Fourth International Cotton Fair on 14 October.
The two day event provides an opportunity for the participants to ink new contracts on Uzbek cotton, set up long-term cooperation in cotton trading, as well as to be familiar with the qualitative characteristics of local cotton and with the latest innovations in trade and logistics.
The cotton fair that concluded today has organized bilateral negotiations between Uzbek cotton exporters and consumers.
Traders from various countries got the opportunity to participate in the cotton trading session on Uzbek commodity exchange.
During the fair, prevailing problems in the world cotton market and development prospects were discussed. Competent views of leading international experts on different topics like World cotton market: demand and supply, prices and factors; Current state and prospects of production and marketing of cotton in Uzbekistan; New technologies to increase cotton competitiveness; World market of cotton textile: present and future; Investment climate and foreign investors in cotton and textile industry of Uzbekistan were also taken.
This annually held event is a platform for Uzbekistan to increase its efficiency and optimize shipment of Uzbek cotton to the world markets.
