IUT students learn open source software
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Inha University in Tashkent (IUT) hosted an open source software (OSS) technology seminar from 26 to 28 October 2016.

National IT industry promotion agency of the Republic of Korea (NIPA), KOICA’s World Friends Korea Programme, Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT) and Inha University in Tashkent organized the seminar.

Training seminar was organized within implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding for the cooperation in the field of developing open source software signed by NIPA, “Electronic Government” System Development Center of Uzbekistan, TUIT and IUT on 14 July 2016. TUIT also held a similar seminar on 26-28 October.

The seminar was organized by the specialists from the Republic of Korea. For the duration of three days, they had shared their knowledge with IUT students on trends of developing open source software.

Students received information on licensing of OSS, use of Git in developing software, programming on Node, making API, etc.

Professor of Sungkyunkwan University Song Sang Hyo shared experience on strategic usage of open source software and successful cases in the field.

At the end of the seminar, the participants received certificates from the organizers.

First Vice-Rector of IUT Professor Woosug Cho noted that students received widest available knowledge on open source software during the seminar. He added that the decision was made to organize such seminars on an annual basis alongside with the Forum on free and open source software.
