The report said recent accident at Sayano-Sushensk hydro power station gives concern to security of work of the largest power stations in the Central Asian region, which were built in Soviet period.
The Italian publication said Nurek and Totogul hydro power stations, located in Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan respectively, are under threat of accident. These stations were constructed at seismic active zones and constructed in the same period of Sayano-Sushensk hydro power station.
La nostra gazzeta said that these two stations were used to collect water for irrigation purposes, but now they are used to solve energy problems of Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan. The publication quoted experts saying there is need to adopt adequate measures, including to hold revision at all hydro power stations in the region.
The report said international norms on construction of hydro power stations should be adhered and independent expertise of new projects should be carried out.
