IT Park Uzbekistan summed up its work for 2023

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In 2023, the volume of exports of IT Park residents reached US$344 million, which is 2.4 times more than the same period of last year. For comparison, 2022 figure was US$140 million. These data were announced for the event “IT Park 2024: Achievements & Vision”.

In particular, 57% (US$196 million) of service exports came from service companies, 23% (US$79 million) from food companies, and 20% (US$69 million) from resident companies providing BPO services. At the same time, the main export countries were:

  • USA - 44% (US$151 million)
  • UK and EU countries - 24% (US$82.5 million)
  • CIS countries - 20% (US$69 million)
  • Asia-Pacific countries - 8% (US$27.5 million)
  • MENA countries - 4% (US$14 million)

It should be noted that the growth in exports was achieved due to the growth of export-oriented resident companies at the end of 2023, the number of which was 551 companies, which is 1.5 times more than the same period of last year.

The number of IT Park residents at the end of 2023 amounted to 1,652 companies (523 of them are registered in the regions of Uzbekistan and 1,129 in Tashkent) of which:

  • 362 - educational companies;
  • 426 - companies with foreign capital;
  • 400 - food companies;
  • 890 - service companies.

The total volume of services provided by IT Park resident companies in 2023 reached 12.5 trillion soums Comparing this with the volume of services last year, which amounted to 5.1 trillion soums, one can see an increase of 2.4 times.

It should be noted that thanks to the benefits provided, IT Park residents create additional jobs and increase the number of IT specialists in our country. Thus, as of 1 January 2024, over 26 thousand people were employed in resident companies. Of which:

  • 18,950 - programmers;
  • 4,091 - employees of BPO companies;
  • 2,442 - foreign specialists;
  • 736 - IT teachers.

In addition, at the event, special attention was paid to the transformation of IT Park Uzbekistan, with a focus on supporting local companies in the international arena and attracting foreign companies to Uzbekistan. Plans and support programs and preferences aimed at developing the export potential of IT companies were announced, and key goals for the coming year were outlined.

In particular, information was given about the Zero Risk program (a program for foreign IT companies that want to enter the Uzbekistan market with minimal risks and costs), Local2Global (support for local companies in Uzbekistan when entering international markets in order to stimulate their export activities) and Regional Headquarters (providing subsidies to international service companies).

IT Park is systematically moving towards its ambitious goals of achieving US$5 billion in exports of IT services and transforming the country into a developed regional IT Hub by 2030.
