Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- It is necessary to consolidate the efforts of the Commonwealth countries to jointly combat threats in the information sphere. This was stated by the Director General of the Executive Committee of the Regional Commonwealth of Communications (RCC) Nurudin Mukhitdinov during his speech at the CIS International Expert Forum on information security.

According to Mukhitdinov, the rapid development of modern information and communication technologies opens up new opportunities for a person. This was especially clearly demonstrated during the coronavirus pandemic, when the technological leap in the ICT field led to the development of new directions. These include expanding the range of digital services, introducing remote work tools and expanding online education.

At the same time, according to the expert, the technological process carries risks that more and more countries of the world face. First of all, this is the uncontrollability of the technology development process. All this requires high-quality information security, which is one of the key measures to maintain the stable operation of state bodies and public organizations, the functioning of the economy and the state as a whole.

At the same time, the Director General of the RCC Executive Committee stressed that the transboundary nature of challenges and threats to security in this area requires joint actions at the bilateral, regional and international levels. In this context, the expert reported on the approval of the draft Action Plan for the implementation of the Strategy for ensuring information security of the CIS member states for the period until 2030, which is currently not being considered by the supreme bodies of the CIS.

He is convinced that only through joint efforts and the adoption of coordinated comprehensive measures is it possible to withstand modern challenges and threats to security in the information sphere.

In the event organized on 29 June, in Tashkent by the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Executive Committee, heads of specialized departments, heads of universities, research institutes, as well as leading experts from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus took part , Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, and Tajikistan are taking part.
