Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov is on an official visit to China.
As part of the visit, a meeting was held in Beijing with the leadership of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
At the meeting, the parties reviewed projects that are being implemented in Uzbekistan with the financial support of the bank in the development of transport infrastructure. The parties also discussed promising areas of cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to attracting financial resources for the implementation of projects related to the electrification of the Bukhara-Myskin-Urgench-Khiva railway line, the reconstruction of a highway of international importance in the Bukhara region, as well as the development of public transport in the regions, including the purchase of buses.
Issues of cooperation with the bank in the development of international transport corridors and the construction of a key railway junction China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan, which directly connects the Asian and European continents, were also discussed.
Vice-President of the AIIB Konstantin Limitovskiy noted that cooperation in the implementation of such large and significant projects is a priority task of the bank.
