Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 August, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov received Parliamentary Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Satoshi Nakanishi.
During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral political-diplomatic, trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
An exchange of views took place on key issues of the international and regional agenda, in particular the current situation in Afghanistan. The Japanese side expressed its readiness for multilateral cooperation with interested parties in order to ensure security and sustainable development in the region.
In this vein, the prospects for deepening interaction within the framework of the dialogue "Central Asia + Japan" - a platform for the comprehensive development of relations, ensuring sustainable economic growth in the region and strengthening cooperation between the Central Asian countries and Japan were considered.
They noted the significant results achieved within the framework of the implementation of the agreements following the visits at the highest and high levels. The tangible growth of Japanese investments attracted for the implementation of investment and social projects in Uzbekistan was emphasized. So, in particular, in Tashkent, together with the company "Digital Knowledge", a Digital University was created, specializing in the provision of e-learning services. Currently, a number of investment projects are being implemented jointly with Japanese partners in the automotive, chemical and hospitality sectors.
The parties agreed to start joint work on preparation for the 3rd meeting of the bilateral Interparliamentary Forum and the 16th meeting of the Uzbek-Japanese and Japanese-Uzbek committees for economic cooperation with the organization of mutual visits of officials of the two countries.
The Japanese side welcomed Uzbekistan’s plans to take part in the EXPO-2025 World Exhibition in Osaka in 2025 with a national pavilion and expressed its readiness to provide comprehensive practical assistance in resolving organizational issues.
An agreement was reached on joint preparations for holding the Year of Uzbekistan in Japan and the Year of Japan in Uzbekistan in 2022 as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries.
As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to continue active interaction in all areas of cooperation through maintaining close contacts at various levels.
