Issues of increasing incomes of the population in mahallas were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on 7 March to discuss measures to increase incomes of the population and reduce poverty in mahallas.

Uzbekistan is implementing a number of economic programs aimed at reducing unemployment. Small businesses and entrepreneurial activities are actively supported, and new enterprises are opening in various regions. Vocational educational institutions and monocenters “Ishga Markhamat” provide training to the population in modern specialties and foreign languages.

This year it is planned to provide jobs for five million people, as well as attract two million people to business activities. For these purposes, the state created all the necessary organizational and financial conditions.

In particular, 16 trillion soums were allocated for these purposes. In addition, funds in the amount of 1.4 trillion soums will be allocated by the funds of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, the Mahallabay Agency and the Farmers' Council.

The main task now is to effectively use the local opportunities provided to create sources of income for the population.

In accordance with the instructions of the President, using the example of the Gallyaaral and Sharof-Rashidov districts of the Jizzakh region, new effective mechanisms are being developed, which will subsequently be introduced in all regions.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy and Finance Jamishid Kuchkarov outlined proposals for identifying new opportunities in the mentioned areas and their implementation in practice.

Thus, organizations of the economic complex will be assigned to each mahalla. They will work specifically with low-income families in their local communities and contribute to the growth of people’s incomes. Available loans, subsidies and preferential resources will be allocated primarily for the purpose of poverty reduction. Measures will also be taken to legalize informal businesses and formal employment.

The council of farmers, dekhkan farms and owners of household plots, in collaboration with the leaders assigned to mahallas, organizes the cultivation of highly profitable crops on household plots of the population.

The importance of educating the population on ways to increase income by teaching them how to use new equipment and explaining market requirements was emphasized.

The opinions of ministers and khokims were heard at the meeting. The heads of regions were instructed to organize similar activities in areas lagging behind in development, as well as take measures to reduce unemployment in each mahalla.
