Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- ADB in Uzbekistan organized training for representatives of the ministries of energy and mining to improve their knowledge in the field of environmental, social and governance (ESG) transformation and decarbonization of state-owned enterprises.

The training also aimed to develop market-based approaches to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon pathway.

“We support Uzbekistan in implementing the strategy for transition to a green economy. Our shared vision is to reduce the carbon intensity of the national economy,” said Kanokpan Lao-Araya, ADB Country Director for Uzbekistan. “ADB supports building the capacity of state-owned enterprises in Uzbekistan to adopt global ESG financing standards and other market-based sustainable finance practices.”

During the training, state-owned energy and mining enterprises discussed ESG requirements, analysis of current activities and development of an implementation roadmap.
