Issues of further expanding the partnership of Uzbekistan with the Inter-Parliamentary Union were considered

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva held a meeting in Geneva with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Martin Chungong.

During this meeting, key issues were raised about further expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IPU, as well as continuing effective dialogue on key areas, including achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, protecting human rights, gender equality and supporting youth.

Preparatory events for the 150th anniversary Assembly of the IPU, which will be held in Uzbekistan in 2025, and organizational aspects of related events were also discussed.

Martin Chungong emphasized that the theme of the Assembly will reflect the priorities and proposals of the Uzbek side, and the summit in Tashkent promises to become a landmark event for the entire global parliamentary movement, determining the direction of development of the IPU for the future.

The inclusion of a special parliamentary segment in the program of the Asian Women’s Forum, which will be held in Samarkand in May this year, was also discussed, and hope was expressed for the support of the IPU in its successful implementation.
