Issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Israel discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 March, an online meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Israel with the head of the international cooperation department of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce (FICC), Orom Neksushtan, Dunyo news agency reported.

FICC was founded in 1919 as an independent and non-profit organization. It consists of 6 regional chambers of commerce, each of which represents the interests of its members with the provision of appropriate advice to them. The organization unites 5,000 enterprises operating in the fields of services (60%), trade (40%), industry, agribusiness and handicrafts, 95% of which are small and 5% are medium-sized enterprises.

The purpose of the meeting is to assist in building up trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Israel, as well as the widespread use of FICC opportunities to expand trade.

It should be noted that the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Israel in 2022 amounted to US$47.2 million.

From the Uzbek side, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), the Export Promotion Agency, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Karakalpakstan, the khokimiyats of Bukhara, Samarkand, Tashkent, Khorezm and Kashkadarya regions, associations "Uztekhsanoat”, “Uztukumachiliksanoat”, “Uzcharmsanoat” and “Uzkimyosanoat” attended the online meeting.

The Israeli side provided the participants of the event with information about the FICC and emphasized the opportunities created in this organization for foreign exporters.

In particular, a detailed presentation of a special platform was held, which creates the possibility of placing commercial offers. This electronic system allows Uzbek exporters to directly submit commercial offers to more than 5,000 potential Israeli importers and manufacturers.

On the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2013 between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and FICC, an agreement was reached to promote regular direct dialogue to enhance bilateral cooperation and identify new areas for the effective use of the capabilities of the two chambers.`
