Issues of expanding OSCE project activities in Uzbekistan discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 September 2022, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Helga Maria Schmid, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

Vladimir Norov stated that Uzbekistan considers the OSCE as a unique international platform for political dialogue on security issues in the military-political, economic, environmental and human dimensions.

The dynamically expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE was noted with satisfaction. In 2021 a Roadmap was adopted for the implementation of OSCE projects in such areas as combating transnational threats, protecting human rights, promoting gender equality, improving the efficiency of public administration, developing a digital and green economy, protecting the environment, etc.

Helga Schmid welcomed the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, within which special attention is paid to ensuring gender equality.

A high assessment was given to the efforts of Tashkent in promoting regional cooperation and interconnectedness, as well as assisting neighboring Afghanistan.

The parties also discussed issues of expanding the OSCE project activities in Uzbekistan in the military-political, economic, environmental and human dimensions.
