Issues of expanding cooperation with Ehime Prefecture discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to promote economic diplomacy and expand economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Japan, a business trip was made to Ehime Prefecture. This was reported by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan.

During the trip, a joint meeting was held with the Executive Director of the Association for International Cooperation Ehime M. Tomita, Director of the Association for International Cooperation Ehime N. Omura, Executive Director of the Association for the Development of Tourism and Local Products Ehime Y. Isomura, Chairman of the Ehime Bank, President of the Association for International Cooperation Ehime M. Honda, executive director of the Federation of Forestry Trade Unions Y. Shiba, deputy of the prefectural council Ehime Y. Moritaka, assistant to the deputy from the LDP Seiichiro Murakami Sh. Murakami.

A "business seminar" was also held on the investment and export potential of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Ehime business circles.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the current development of Uzbekistan, the ongoing reforms in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas, the created favorable investment climate and business conditions.

Representatives of the prefecture were interested in the economic development of the republic, GDP growth indicators, export geography, development of the main industries, cooperation with neighboring countries. The activities of companies with the participation of Japanese capital in Uzbekistan, ongoing joint projects and their main activities were especially touched upon.

For his part, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan M. Abdurakhmonov acquainted the representatives of Ehime Prefecture with the ongoing large-scale reforms in the country, created by favorable investment opportunities, and prospects for cooperation in the textile, construction, agricultural sectors.

Representatives of Ehime Prefecture also noted with satisfaction the presence of great interest in the rich historical heritage of the cities of the "Great Silk Road" Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Kokand, as well as the wide potential for cooperation in the field of tourism.

Such areas of cooperation as organizing days of Uzbekistan in Ehime, organizing tourist trips to the historical cities of Uzbekistan, as well as visiting the islands of Ehime Prefecture by tourists from Uzbekistan were considered.

Also the sides discussed the possibilities for developing cultural, humanitarian and economic ties between Ehime Prefecture and the cities of Uzbekistan, organizing "business seminars", presenting investment projects, expanding economic cooperation between representatives of private businesses.

During the "business seminar" on the investment and export potential of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the business community of the city of Ehime, the participants were acquainted with the current situation in the development of the textile industry in Uzbekistan, the expanding geography of exports of products, the work being done to improve the quality of produced yarn and obtain international quality certificates. The level of cooperation with companies in the city of Imabari, purchasing Uzbek yarn for the production of terry products under the well-known brand "IMABARI TOWEL". The decision of the International Coalition "Cotton Campaign" to cancel the global boycott of Uzbek cotton, as well as the work done in this direction by the Government of Uzbekistan to end forced labor in the cotton industry and ensure the effectiveness of ongoing reforms, was brought to light. Also presented are the prospects for the development of the industry until 2026, as well as work to attract world brands to the republic.

The participants of the "business seminar" were interested in the production and raw materials base of the textile industry, the range of manufactured and exported products, the available international certificates and ongoing work to improve product quality, logistics routes.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on the practical implementation of the agreements and the further expansion of cooperation with Ehime Prefecture.
