Issues of enhancing efficiency in industrial sectors considered

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 August, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting dedicated to improving productivity and efficiency in Uzbekistan’s industrial sectors.

In the first seven months of the current year, industrial production in the country grew by 7.1 percent, reaching 435 trillion soums. Particularly high growth rates were observed in the electrical engineering, textile, leather, and automotive industries.

In the regions, 1,300 new production facilities were put into operation, which created additional production capacity amounting to 40 trillion soums.

However, the situation varies across different regions and sectors. In four districts, industrial production volumes decreased compared to the previous year, and in fourteen districts, growth did not exceed 2 percent.

To address these issues locally, a system has been implemented to work with enterprises individually. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov reported on the ongoing efforts in this area and plans for the remainder of the year.

According to him, 112,000 enterprises in the regions have been studied so far, and measures have been taken to address their problems, including issues related to working capital, electricity and gas supply, and taxation. By the end of the year, conditions are expected to be created to increase production volumes by an additional 30 trillion soums.

The President has instructed that responsible individuals be assigned to enterprises based on the number of employees and that training be organized for entrepreneurs on modern business methods. Additionally, programs will be developed for industrially-oriented areas in each region.

Furthermore, measures were discussed to launch major projects, increase the share of domestic products in government procurement, and boost export volumes.
