Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 June this year, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan with representatives of the Delegation of the European Union (EC) in Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilhom Norkulov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ahadbek Khaydarov and heads of relevant structures, as well as Head of the EU Cooperation Department Wim Ripma, Project Manager Adrian Nil.

The guests thanked the Uzbek side for the warm welcome, after which negotiations took place on receiving 27 million euros in grant funds provided by the European Union for large-scale support for agricultural reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

These funds are planned to be directed to the following reforms in agriculture:

implementation of climate change adaptation and mitigation measures;

development of a system of scientific, educational, information and consulting services in agriculture;

ensuring food safety and healthy eating;

diversification of public spending.

As a result of the meeting, targets were agreed that must be achieved in order to receive grant funds.
