Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 November, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan with representatives of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Uzbekistan.

This event was attended by First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilkhom Norkulov, Head of the Department of Economic, Financial and Management Regulation of Transport and Communication Services of the Ministry Atamurod Khunarov, Director of the Department of Implementation of State Programs Abdukadir Yakubov. The event was also attended by the head of the AFD representative office in Uzbekistan, Vincent Coupin, the deputy head of the agency, Antoine Cheval, and the agency’s transport specialist, Pierre-Yves Safra.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the development of railway infrastructure in Uzbekistan, in particular, assessing the capacity of the Tashkent-Samarkand railway line and measures to improve its efficiency.

Also during the event, Pierre-Yves Safra, a transport specialist at the representative office of the French Development Agency in Uzbekistan, expressed a number of opinions on the development of the railway infrastructure of Uzbekistan based on the experience of France. In particular, it was noted that when developing railway infrastructure, it is necessary to take into account the factors causing traffic jams, as well as the factor of domestic and international railway traffic.

An agreement was reached to continue bilateral cooperation and discuss in detail the areas of cooperation based on the final research findings.
