Issues of constant combat readiness of troops and attentive attitude to citizens’ appeals were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Committee on Defense and Security of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis held a meeting dedicated to the most pressing issues. At the meeting, issues planned for inclusion on the agenda of the next plenary meeting of the Senate were preliminary considered.

In addition, in accordance with the annual plan, a report was heard from the Minister of Defense on the work carried out by the Ministry of Defense on the issues of building the Armed Forces, current problems of their further development, other issues regarding the organization of military service by citizens and ensuring the military security of the country, as well as on the state of work in Ministry of Defense with citizens’ appeals for the past period of 2023. This report was delivered by the Deputy Minister of Defense for Educational and Ideological Work, Major General Khamdam Karshiev.

As noted, in order to qualitatively carry out the tasks defined at the expanded meeting of the Security Council, held on 13 January 2023 under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense has carried out enormous and effective work.

In order to maintain the constant combat readiness of the Ministry of Defense troops, more than 1,000 surprise inspections were carried out on the ground in conditions close to a real combat situation. As a result, the number of operational training activities was increased by 1.2 times, as a result of which it was possible to achieve a significant increase in the level of professional preparedness of command personnel.

In addition, over the past period of this year, measures have been carried out in a planned manner to call up citizens for compulsory military service and to discharge conscripts who have served the established terms of compulsory military service into the reserve of the Armed Forces.

Conscripts who have achieved high results in combat and spiritual-educational training, as well as demonstrated a high level of knowledge, have been given recommendations entitling them to enter higher educational institutions on a preferential basis.

In addition, the Ministry of Defense has carried out large-scale reforms to train military personnel and further improve scientific research. In particular, the Academy of the Armed Forces has introduced a special system of 2-year distance learning in the specialty of military pedagogy and psychology. Work continued to equip the troops with the latest types of weapons and equipment, their modernization and repair.

At the meeting, the systemic activities carried out in the Ministry of Defense system to work with citizens’ appeals were especially noted. Over the 11 months of 2023, the Ministry of Defense received 4,074 requests from individuals and legal entities. Of these, 1,826 appeals were resolved positively, legal advice was given for 2,005 appeals, and 243 appeals are under consideration.

Appeals from individuals and legal entities mainly reflect the issues of transferring a serviceman from one place of military service to another for family reasons, reinstatement into military service, entry into military service under a contract, issues of providing housing, admission to military departments of higher educational institutions, transfer and reinstatement in them, as well as those related to pensions and other types of social security.

During the on-site receptions held by the leadership and responsible officials of the Ministry of Defense, 814 individuals and legal entities were received and appropriate practical assistance was provided to them.

Following the meeting, a corresponding decision was made by the Committee on Defense and Security, reflecting specific proposals on the issues discussed at the meeting.
