Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held at the National Agency for Prospective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan with representatives of the largest international bank Citibank (New York, USA).

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Prospective Projects Vyacheslav Pak, General Director of Direct Investment Fund of the Republic of Uzbekistan LLC Atabek Nazirov, General Director of Uzbek Republican Currency Exchange JSC Rashid Usmanov, Chairman of the Board of Central Securities Depository JSC Sherali Abdujabbarov , Chairman of the Board of JSC Republican Stock Exchange Tashkent Georgy Paresishvili, as well as Citibank Managing Director for Issuer Services Aiden Dagg, Global Depository Risk Director Mikhail Klochkov and Corporate Banking Director Jason Zullo.

The sides discussed issues of attracting foreign investment through the issuance of global depositary receipts (GDR) and global depositary notes (GDN), the entry of Uzbek companies into an international IPO, increasing the interest of international investors in the corporate bond market in Uzbekistan, etc.

Representatives of Citibank spoke positively on the Agency’s draft regulation on the regulatory sandbox, posted for public discussion on Regulation.gov.uz. They voiced their suggestions and recommendations for its improvement.

The parties exchanged views on establishing further coordinated work to further attract foreign investors to the capital market of Uzbekistan, as well as opening Citibank foreign currency accounts with the Central Bank, as well as securities accounts at the Currency Exchange and the Central Depository.
