Issues of accession of Uzbekistan to the international inclusive BEPS program were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 April, Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Sherzod Kudbiev received Ben Dickinson, Head of the Global Relations and Development Department of the Tax Policy Center of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

At the meeting, it was noted that the role and significance of IF BEPS (Inclusive Frameworks for Base Erosion and Profit Shifting) - a plan to counteract the reduction of the tax base and counter the concealment of income on the world stage is extremely important, especially in recent years, when its influence has been steadily growing.

“Uzbekistan chooses to work with a global coalition of countries on an inclusive BEPS framework so that the largest companies pay their fair share of taxes both in Uzbekistan and in other countries,” said Ben Dickinson.

Also during the conversation, the parties discussed the benefits of Uzbekistan joining the BEPS program of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, trends in the development of international taxation, and establishing a regular exchange of tax statistics with OECD structures.

“We, pursuing the interests of our state in our activities, will consistently continue our efforts to combat the shadow economy and corruption, ensure beneficial transparency of the ownership of legal entities at the national and cross-border levels, and tax international companies operating on digital platforms. We are ready to intensify international cooperation in this direction,” Minister of Economy and Finance Sherzod Kudbiev emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, the minister gave relevant instructions to responsible persons to study the standards of membership in the BEPS program and make specific proposals with a thorough analysis of the best practices of the world community in the field of tax administration.

At present, 142 countries of the world have joined the BEPS program; the decision to develop this program was made at the G20 summit in 2012. The BEPS program consists of 15 commitments and provides for the implementation of tools that help reduce the tax base and combat income hiding in participating countries.
