Health Ministry of Uzbekistan, embassy of Israel, MASHAV – Israeli centre for international cooperation and UNFPA held a national seminar on "Women’s health" in Tashkent on 15-16 May.

Leading Israeli specialists on onco-genecology from Rabin Medical Center in Israel, Dr. Ram Eitan and Dr. Yoav Peled, conducted the seminar. The doctors introduced Israeli experience in Gyne-oncology, Pre-cancerous lesions, Ectopic pregnancy and Endometrial Carcinoma, etc.

About 50 Gynecologists and Oncologists, deputy heads of regional health care departments of Uzbekistan and senior Uzbek specialists in the field of women health, took part in the event.

Israeli–Uzbek cooperation in this field was started in 2001, when MASHAV organized a course in Tashkent and offered the method of early detection of Cervix Cancer to Uzbek specialists. Later a number of seminars and courses were organized in various regions of Uzbekistan. Thus Israeli Cytologist and Pathologist Graciela Lijovetzky conducted two one week seminars in Urgench and Nukus on Cervix Cancer in November/December 2006. Further cooperation was discussed.
