Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A round table was held in Tamra (Israel) on 23 June 2019 with the participation of representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan and the leaders of more than 10 Israeli travel companies working mainly with the Arab population of the country.
During the event, the Israeli side was acquainted with the main directions of development of the tourism sector in Uzbekistan, measures taken by the government to increase the tourist flow to the country, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.
Representatives of travel agencies pointed to the growing attention in Israel to Uzbekistan as a promising tourist destination. Of particular interest was the information presented by the diplomatic mission about the significant potential in the field of pilgrim tourism.
According to estimates, the leading position of the republic in the Global Muslim Travel Index on "ziyorat-tourism" offers great opportunities to increase the number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan from Israel. In many ways, this can be achieved at the expense of the Muslim part of the population of Israel, taking into account the fact that Arabs make up about 20% of all the inhabitants of the country.
Israeli travel companies have announced their intention to establish a partnership with travel agents of Uzbekistan to develop routes to visit the republic and form tourist groups.
Separately expressed readiness to visit Uzbekistan in the framework of the 25th anniversary Tashkent International Tourism Fair "Tourism on the Silk Road", which will be held in November 2019.
