Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 February 2023, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Uzbekistan Timothy Torlot.

During the conversation, issues of regional security were discussed, including the development of the situation in Afghanistan, as well as possible joint actions to resolve the situation in that country.

The diplomat praised Uzbekistan’s efforts to develop a consolidated regional position on Afghanistan, establish long-term peace and stability in the country, and provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

Special attention was also paid to the implementation of the initiative of the leadership of Uzbekistan to create an international negotiating group under the auspices of the UN.
