The congress of the Liberal and Democratic Party of Uzbekistan was held on Tuesday morning. As it was expected, delegates of the congress unanimously nominated Islam Karimov as a candidate for the presidential elections for the third term of 7 years.
The President Islam Karimov, who agreed to run for the presidential elections, made a long speech during this congress, in which he outlined the main areas of Uzbekistan’s development in case he wins the elections.
The movement of businessmen and entrepreneurs - Liberal and Democratic Party of Uzbekistan was set up in 2003. It includes some 150,000 members and has the biggest fraction in the parliament (41 seats).
