Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An analysis by experts from the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (IPMI) showed that over this period in our country there was a significant increase in freight turnover by all modes of transport, which increased from 66.9 billion t-km in 2017 to 75, 2 billion t-km in 2022.
In particular:
- freight turnover by rail for the period under review increased from 22.9 billion t-km to 24.9 billion t-km;
- cargo turnover by road increased by almost 1.5 times, amounting to 20.2 billion t-km in 2022 against 13.6 billion t-km in 2017;
- cargo turnover by air increased almost 2 times - from 156.9 million t-km to 322.7 million t-km over the analyzed period.
The Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 defines a number of measures aimed at developing infrastructure and the transport services market. In particular:
- organization of a network of transport and logistics centers, taking into account the main points of cargo formation in the regions;
- step-by-step transfer of documents of international cargo transportation into electronic format ("e-Permit", "e-TIR", "e-CMR");
- development of existing container terminals on the basis of public-private partnership;
- increase in the share of container transportation by rail by at least 2 times.
Thus, the dynamic increase in freight turnover is the result of the development of transport infrastructure and the liberalization of foreign trade activities. A further increase in cargo turnover is based on digitalization, infrastructure modernization and the creation of favorable conditions for carriers.
