IOC Sports Director visits the NOC of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Honored guests are visiting Tashkent as part of the World Judo Championship continues. Among them, the sports director of the International Olympic Committee, Keith Makkonel, with whom the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, Oybek Kasimov, had a conversation today on the topic of further expanding cooperation.

First, Oybek Kasimov informed Mr. Makkonel about the history and activities of the Committee, the achievements of Uzbek sports. After that, the parties held a meaningful conversation on a number of topics.

Keith McConnell has been IOC Director of Sport since 2014. During his career, he has demonstrated high potential in a number of International Federations. During the conversation, the foreign specialist highlighted the achievements of Uzbek sports in recent years and expressed his readiness to contribute to further strengthening the promotion of the Olympic Movement and its noble ideas in our country. In addition, the guest of honor especially noted the high level of organization of the World Judo Championship, which is being held in Tashkent.

In turn, the NOC Secretary General emphasized the reforms carried out in our country by the respected President in the field of sports in all areas, the attention he pays to the development of Olympic sports. Oybek Omilovich also spoke about the huge preparatory work for the upcoming Asian Youth Games Tashkent-2025, the attention paid to strengthening the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among the country’s population through major competitions.

During the conversation, the parties agreed to take cooperation to a new level. At the end of the event, the guest was presented with a memorable gift from the NOC of Uzbekistan.
