Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An Investment Agreement was signed in Bishkek between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the "China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway Company" LLC, Dunyo news agency reported.
The ceremony took place at the "Intymak-Ordo" building of the Kyrgyz Presidential Administration.
The document was signed by the Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, Abasattar Syrgabaev, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the "China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway Company" LLC, Zhong Shengui.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Torobayev, noted that this day can be considered historic for the three countries.
According to him, the signing of the Investment Agreement for the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the "China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan" railway marks the transition to the practical implementation of a large-scale infrastructure project of regional and international importance.
"I want to congratulate everyone on the successful completion of the joint work to agree on the Investment Agreement being signed today. Such progress became possible thanks to the support and determination of the leaders of our countries. Only through their efforts are we able to sign one of the key documents of this project today," emphasized Bakyt Torobayev.
The ceremony was attended by delegations from China and Uzbekistan, led by the Acting Chargé d’Affaires of China in Kyrgyzstan, Li Baojie, and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Saidikram Niyazkhodjaev.
The participants emphasized that the construction of the "China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan" railway will be an important element in the development of the transportation infrastructure of the participating countries and will bring significant socio-economic benefits, strengthening interregional ties.
The construction of the railway is scheduled to begin on 27 December.
