Internet speed to reach 1,200 Gbps by end of 2018

The speed of the external Internet channel in Uzbekistan will reach 1,200 Gbps by the end of 2018. This was announced today by the general director of Uzbektelecom Farhod Roziev during the conference # MITCROADMAP2018 in Tashkent.
According to him, the speed of Internet in May 2017 was 65 Gbps. At the moment, this figure is 160 Gbps.
Farhod Roziev said that the company adopted a program of transformation until 2020. Within the framework of the program, measures will be taken to increase the speed of the Internet and localize international traffic.
The company also plans to introduce new formats of services. The head of "Uzbektelecom" emphasized that the company intends to improve its work with operators.
"We do not promise at once 20-30-50 megabit speed per apartment. This will take more time. But these will be "real" megabits - not on paper, but in practice, new affordable prices, an updated package of services and the most simplified tariffs," he said.
