International Tourism Forum “Uzbekistan – Kuwait”: New Horizons of Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 8 July 2025, the international tourism forum “Uzbekistan – Kuwait” was held in the State of Kuwait. The event was organized by the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuwait.

The forum served as a significant platform for advancing bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector, promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in the Middle East, and strengthening partnership ties.

Participants included representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, travel companies, airlines, chambers of commerce and industry, and business communities from both countries. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Umid Shadiev, Chairman of the Tourism Committee; Ayubkhon Yunusov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Kuwait; and Osama Hamad Al-Mekhyal, head of the Tourism Committee under Kuwait’s Ministry of Information and Culture. The speakers noted a shared interest in boosting tourism exchanges and implementing joint initiatives.

The forum featured a presentation titled “Uzbekistan — the Jewel of the Silk Road,” showcasing the country's rich cultural and historical heritage, unique travel routes, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and opportunities for developing pilgrimage, medical, gastronomic, and ecotourism.

B2B and G2B meetings between business representatives and government agencies from both countries facilitated the establishment of direct contacts, discussions on promising areas of cooperation, and the planning of familiarization tours for Kuwaiti tour operators and media representatives.

A highlight of the event was the photo exhibition “New Uzbekistan,” which captured the country’s tourism achievements, infrastructure modernization, the creation of new destinations, as well as its traditional crafts, culinary heritage, and cultural identity.

The forum marked an important step toward expanding tourism cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kuwait, confirming growing interest in Uzbekistan among Arab tourists and reinforcing the country’s image as an emerging destination on the global tourism map.
