Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 December 2024, Bureau Veritas Tashkent organized a business meeting in Tashkent on the theme “Prospects and Opportunities for Certification under International Standards: A Foundation for Developing the Green Economy.”
The event brought together representatives of leading enterprises from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, sustainability experts, and government officials, including the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation and the Uzbek Accreditation Center.
In light of Uzbekistan declaring 2025 as the Year of Environmental Protection and the Green Economy, the meeting held particular significance. Participants discussed the importance of integrating sustainable development goals and the role of international standards in shaping a green economy.
Bureau Veritas, a global leader in independent testing and certification, presented key standards such as ISO 14001:2015 (environmental management systems) and ISO 50001:2018 (energy management systems) as tools for enhancing corporate competitiveness and environmental responsibility. In her address, certification body head M. Rasulova emphasized the significance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, highlighting the energy and heating sectors where a substantial portion of electricity is still generated from fossil fuels.
Among the participants were representatives of companies such as NGMK JSC, JV LLC Samarkand Automobile Plant, LLC ADM Jizzakh, JV LLC Coca-Cola Ichimligi Uzbekistan, Ltd., JV LLC International Beverages Tashkent (Pepsi), LLC PROMEAT GROUP CORP, Ipak Yuli Bank, IMPEX INSURANCE JSC, TALCO JSC, the Farovon Group of Companies, LLC ALPHAPET, and others.
The event also featured a ceremonial presentation of international certification under ISO 9001:2015 and FSSC 22000 v6 standards, along with awards to Bureau Veritas Tashkent’s partners and clients for their contributions to advancing the green economy and environmental protection.
Bureau Veritas Tashkent reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of Uzbekistan’s green economy and implementing measures to mitigate climate impact. The organizers expressed confidence that this business meeting marks a significant step toward improving environmental performance and fostering sustainable business practices in the country.
