Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan hosted an international seminar focused on developing a strategy for sustainable agricultural mechanization. The seminar was the result of an FAO project that involved a comprehensive analysis of the state of mechanization in Uzbekistan.
Participants included FAO representatives, Uzbek government officials, and international experts.
Joseph Kinzley, an FAO engineer, emphasized the need for innovative approaches, technologies, and farmer training to modernize Uzbekistan’s agriculture. He also highlighted the existing government support for mechanization. However, he stressed the necessity of a long-term strategy for sustainable development in this area.
The FAO project aims to develop national capabilities in sustainable mechanization to ensure food security. It includes support for the development of the strategy, training, and capacity-building for specialists.
During the seminar, a phased mechanization plan was agreed upon, based on the FAO’s analysis and the experience of international experts. This plan will serve as the foundation for future work.
