Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 9–10 April 2025, as part of the International Opera and Ballet Festival in Tashkent, the stage of the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theatre will host a production by the legendary choreographer Carolyn Carlson. This time, audiences will experience her unique choreographic work The Tree, which premiered in 2022.
Carolyn Carlson is renowned for her distinctive approach to dance, which she describes as “visual poetry.” She emphasizes that dance is not merely physical movement but a poetic perception of the world.
The Tree, subtitled Fragments of Poetics in Fire, tells a story of love for nature, teetering on the brink of destruction, and the hope for its revival. The performance captures Carlson’s dreamlike vision, transforming into a powerful and dynamic tribute to nature’s beauty and its inevitable rebirth—like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
The production is expected to be a major highlight for ballet and contemporary dance enthusiasts, showcasing Carolyn Carlson’s unique artistic approach to themes of nature and ecology through movement.
