International Investment Forum postponed due to coronavirus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade hosted a press briefing with participation of the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov.

It was officially announced that the International Investment Forum, scheduled for March, is being postponed to November due to the coronavirus.

This decision has been taken due to the need to prevent the spread of the virus among the forum participants, including among foreign guests and citizens of the country.

“The official date will be announced later. During the forum, the signing of projects was expected. I think we will sign the agreements that will be ready in March. In addition, the information in the media that says that the event is postponed due to the fact that only a third of the participants agreed to attend the forum is not reliable”, Umurzakov said.

The number of registered participants has already exceeded all expectations. 1706 people registered for participation, and not as planned 1500. These are representatives of business, foreign governments and media from 63 countries.

The Organizing Committee will organize work to notify previously registered persons of new terms, as well as continue activities to widely promote the Tashkent International Investment Forum and the plenary meeting of the Council of Foreign Investors under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan among the world business community and leading media.

The specific dates of the Tashkent International Investment Forum and the plenary meeting of the Council of Foreign Investors under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be announced additionally.
