International gathering unites youth for ecology preservation and ecotourism development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 9 August, a press conference was held in the city of Shakhrisabz, Kashkadarya region, dedicated to the International Gathering on Ecology and Tourism titled "Youth – Builders of the Future."

The event saw participation from representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, local and foreign media, and regional authorities.

Zarrina Abdullayeva, head of the department at the Ministry of Ecology, emphasized that this year's gathering focused not only on tourism but also on ecology, as these two fields are closely interconnected. She highlighted the importance of fostering ecological culture among youth, enhancing their knowledge, and strengthening their connection with nature. The event's program includes eco-quests, plogging, intellectual games, and other activities aimed at environmental protection and the development of ecotourism.

Youth representatives from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan attended the event, along with 56 talented young people from all regions of Uzbekistan, including students, schoolchildren, people with disabilities, and those in need of social protection.

During the press conference, issues related to domestic and international tourism were discussed, as well as measures to engage youth in these areas. The event concluded with a Q&A session with journalists.

The gathering will continue until 13 August, featuring seminars, debates, ecological and tourism project competitions, exhibitions, outdoor film screenings, sports games, excursions, and other activities aimed at developing environmental and tourism awareness among youth.
