This year, Israel produced in Uzbekistan a play called “The first meeting with her”, written by N. Labute. The play was presented by the acting group from the Goodman Theatre School, from Beer Sheva, southern part of Israel. The play was presented to Uzbek audience on stage of the Youth Theatre. During the theatre week, Israeli directors also addressed the “International Forum”, and delivered master classes.

All in all nine Israeli theatre professionals came from Israel for the theatre week, six actors, two directors and a prop director.

The story “The first meeting with her”, tells about Tom – an office employee in a big city, who fell in love with Helen – a librarian of large size, having met her in a crowded café. The play focuses on the conflict between stereotypes, public opinion and choices one has to make in life.

The event was supported by the Embassy of Israel, Israeli cultural centre in Tashkent, Jewish agency “Sokhnut” and Israeli company “Bartec”.
