Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 2 October, the international conference titled "The Role of Mahalla in Improving the Living Standards of the Local Population" commenced at the Silk Road Complex in Samarkand.

The conference, "The Role of Mahalla in Improving the Living Standards of the Local Population," will serve as a platform for exchanging experiences and exploring new solutions to improve the quality of life at the local level.

This event, organized within the framework of the President of Uzbekistan’s initiative "From Poverty to Prosperity," aims to bring together experts, representatives of government agencies, international organizations, and mahalla representatives from more than 70 countries.

Samarkand was chosen as the venue for the conference not by chance—this city, a historic center of trade routes and cultural exchange for centuries, symbolizes unity and cooperation.

Key Themes of the Conference:

- Experience of Self-Governance Bodies in Central Asia. Participants will discuss successful practices and challenges related to the development of self-governance institutions in the region, focusing on their role in addressing socio-economic issues.

- The Role of Self-Governance Bodies in Public Administration. This section will address the role of mahallas in implementing government programs, maintaining public order and safety, and improving the population’s living standards.

- Ensuring the Interests of Women, Youth, and Children in Self-Governance Bodies. This section will cover the involvement of women, youth, and children in local decision-making processes and mechanisms for their protection and support.
