International conference on sustainable development held in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- UNDP project “Supporting Uzbekistan in Transition to a Low-Emission Development Path” at the support of the UN Information Office in Uzbekistan held a youth conference on sustainable development within the process of preparation to the UN Conference “Rio+20”.

The conference, which was held at Park Turon Hotel, participated students from leading universities of Uzbekistan – Westminster International University, University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Urgench State University and Karakalpak State University.

The conference was aimed at expanding knowledge of students on international agreements on climate change, and teaching to skills and techniques of negotiations. During the forum, the participants acted in role of national delegates and imitated processes of negotiations within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, adopted in 1992.

Youth conference was preceded with long preparation stage, which included special interactive trainings and seminars, organized by the UNDP to familiarize students with history, structure and procedures of climate talks.

The conference became platform for practical use of gained knowledge and the delegates presented and defended their positions in climate change process. Based on the most interesting proposals, the resolution of delegates of the youth forum was founded.
