The major goal of this Conference was to support the current efforts of the Government of Uzbekistan in establishing the national system of science-and technology information, technology transfer and absorption. This goal will be achieved by promoting awareness and understanding of the main issues with knowledge and information flows/linkages in Uzbekistan’s national innovation system and beginning to develop a menu of possible solutions to these issues for the Government to choose from.
The Conference was devoted mostly to discussing the status of Uzbekistan’s R&D sector and its linkages to local industrial innovation. It will also discuss concrete proposals from the central government agencies of Uzbekistan that proposing concrete government-supported projects addressing various knowledge and information bottlenecks in the national innovation system. Foreign guests of the Conference made presentations by bringing up a variety of relevant experiences from other countries (from Korea, China, France, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and some others).
The audience of the conference included representatives of the following Uzbekistan agencies: Committee on Coordination of Science and Technology Development under the Cabinet of Ministers, Ministry of Economy, Technology Transfer Agency under the Ministry of Economy, Academy of Sciences, ministries, R&D institutions, Uzbekistan Patent Agency, Standardization, Metrology, and Certification Agency (Uzstandart), and many others.
