Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Intensive dialogue at the highest level gave a powerful impetus to deepening multifaceted cooperation. This statement was made by the former Italian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, member of the Mediterranean Institute of Asia and Africa (ISMAA) Riccardo Manara at the conference held on 13 December in Tashkent on the topic “Uzbekistan-Italy: new horizons of cooperation.”

As Riccardo Manara noted, the political dialogue between the countries continues to actively develop. In this context, the diplomat praised the recent high-level visits. It was emphasized that the intensive dialogue between the presidents of Uzbekistan and Italy gives a powerful impetus to deepening multifaceted cooperation.

Riccardo Manara paid special attention to interaction in the cultural sphere. “Italy has extensive experience in preserving cultural heritage and could share knowledge in this direction,” concluded the Italian ambassador.

The conference brought together representatives of political, diplomatic and expert-analytical circles of Uzbekistan and Italy. Thus, the Italian side was represented by the Italian Ambassador to Uzbekistan in the period 2011-2016. Riccardo Manara, ISMAA President Maurizio Barnaba, ISMAA Secretary General Vincenzo Valenti, Ambassador and ISMAA Board Member Marco Carnelos, ISMAA Board Member and Deputy President of the Italy-Uzbekistan Friendship Association Magda Pedace.

Experts from the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies, the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies, the International Institute of Central Asia, and the Development Strategy Center were present on the Uzbek side.
