Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov, as part of a working trip to Khorezm region, got directly acquainted with the work aimed at developing the ICT industry in the region.

In particular, with the participation of the Minister, a meeting was held at the Khorezm branch of JSC "Uzbektelekom". It was attended by heads of territorial branches and divisions of subordinate organizations, enterprises and mobile operators.

During the meeting, the ongoing work and long-term plans in the field of ICT were discussed. The leadership of the territorial administration of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications in the Khorezm region announced financial indicators for the development of the ICT sector in the region. So, if in 2020 the volume of ICT services amounted to 350 billion soums, then in 2021 it increased to 420 billion soums. This year it is planned to bring this figure to 600 billion soums.

Provided information on the development of the telecommunications sector in the region. Thus, as part of the development of fiber optic networks in 2020, the total length of networks was more than 4 thousand kilometers, in 2021 - 7.9 thousand kilometers. This year it is planned to bring this figure to 11.8 thousand. In addition, the number of broadband Internet access ports is also consistently increasing. So, in 2020, this figure was 155.2 thousand, in 2021 - 242.4 thousand, and in 2022 it is planned to increase it to 300.3 thousand units.

Serious attention was paid to the development of the postal sector in the region. There are 101 postal communication departments operating in the Khorezm region, which provide public, banking and insurance services to the population. The material and technical base of postal facilities has been strengthened: all of them are fully computerized and equipped with trucks, electric scooters, and multifunctional mobile devices.

As Minister of ICT Sherzod Shermatov noted, today it is necessary to develop postal services in the region, improve and strengthen their financial and economic activities, including through the provision of other types of services. The task was set to more actively inform the population about banking services provided by postal facilities, including through the use of banking applications.

Among the priority areas for the development of the ICT sector in the region are IT entrepreneurship, increasing the export of IT products and services through the provision of BPO services. This will further increase the employment of young people in the region and provide them with highly paid jobs. It was noted that there is great potential in this direction.

Instructions were given on the timely and effective implementation of the tasks set.
