Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the social protection policy aimed at improving human dignity in our country, special attention is paid to improving the pension system and regularly increasing pensions.
One of the issues considered at the next meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was the Law “On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On State Pension Provision of Citizens”.
It was noted that the Law envisages an increase from 1 January 2023, the maximum amount of wages for calculating a pension from ten to twelve times the size of the base amount for calculating a pension.
As the senators emphasized, from 1 January 2023, in accordance with the changes introduced, the average monthly salary taken into account when calculating the pension for citizens is set on the basis of the average monthly salary in an amount not exceeding 12 times the base amount for calculating the pension, that is, from the average monthly salary in the amount of 3,888,000 soums.
As a result, the size of pensions of 352,000 citizens will be recalculated and the average monthly pension will be increased to 400,000 soums. Of these, 304 thousand are receiving an old-age pension, 25.2 thousand are persons with disabilities and 23 thousand are persons who have lost their breadwinner.
When implementing the measures provided for by the Law, the Pension Fund will additionally need funds in the amount of more than 1.5 trillion soums.
The introduction of the proposed procedure by this Law serves to strengthen the principles of social justice, increase the interest of the population in more productive work and higher wages.
During the discussions, the senators noted that these changes clearly indicate that in our country social protection is aimed at material and moral support for citizens receiving old age, disability pensions, as well as survivors’ pensions assigned to orphans.
The law was approved by the senators.
