Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From January to October 2024, the total volume of foreign currency purchase and sale transactions conducted by banks with individuals reached US$20.9 billion, a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2023 (US$17.6 billion), according to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
During this period, individuals sold US$13.2 billion in foreign currency, marking a 32% increase from 2023, when the volume amounted to US$10 billion.
At the same time, the volume of foreign currency purchased by individuals rose by 2%, reaching US$7.7 billion, compared to US$7.6 billion in 2023.
As a result, the positive balance of foreign currency transactions by individuals (US$5.5 billion) became an additional source of foreign currency supply in Uzbekistan’s domestic market.
