Indian Pharmaceutical Industry is now a US$18 billion industry has shown tremendous progress in terms of infrastructure development, technology base and wide range of products. Most Indian companies maintain highest standards in Purity, Stability and International Safety Health & Environmental protection in the production and supply of bulk drugs to even innovator companies. More and more Indian companies are now seeking regulatory approvals in USA in specialized segments like anti-infectives, cardiovasculars, central nervous system stimulants (CNS group). Considering that the pharmaceutical industry is an industry involving sophisticated technology and stringent GMP requirements, major share of Indian Pharma exports itself going to highly developed western countries speaks not only about the excellent quality of Indian Pharmaceuticals but also about the reasonableness of the prices.

The basic aim of this delegation is to propagate the Indian development made in the field of pharma industry and to share the benefits for the welfare of the people of Republic of Uzbekistan.

The main aim of this delegation is provide international quality of medicines at affordable medicines.

Embassy of India in Tashkent coordinated and organized the various meetings for the delegation. The delegation called on the Honorable Deputy Minister of Health H.E. Mr. Kamilov Asomiddin on 26 February 2009. The Honorable Minister welcomed all the delegates and informed that he was happy to receive the delegation. He also informed that Uzbekistan had very long historical ties with India and he was happy to inform that Uzbekistan has been importing drugs & pharmaceutical products from India for a long time and he never had any quality or any other problems till date. He further mentioned that leading Indian Pharmaceutical Company are already doing business in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Dr. Habibulla K. Jalilov, Chief, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor, Health Ministry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Head Department of Drug & Medical equipment quality Control, Shri Masud S Fayziev, Deputy Chairman of the Board and were also present at the meeting. The Honorable Minister then asked the representatives from the Ministry of Health to brief the delegation regarding the registration procedures and other formalities for registering the drug in Uzbekistan.

Embassy of India organized a Buyer-Seller meet on 27 February 2009 at Hotel Le Grande Plaza for interaction with the Indian & Uzbek Businessmen. The members from the Uzbek Chamber of Commerce arranged the meeting of their members & other members of the business community from Uzbek. Indian Ambassador, H.E. Dr. (Prof.) Al Qadri inaugurated the Business Meet. In inaugural address he stated that India and Uzbekistan has had excellent business and cultural relation for the last 300 years and requested the Indians as well the businessmen from Uzbekistan not to do anything that would spoil the relation between the two countries.

Ms. Sayora Ataeva, Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce also addressed the gathering and welcomed the delegates.

Mr. Devendra Chaudhry, Joint Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Pharmaceuticals addressed the gathering and stated that such business delegation boosted the relations further & helped both the countries in bilateral trade. The meet was also addressed by Mr. Mirnozim Dustmuradov, Head of International Dept. of Uzpharmsanoat.

During the one-to-one buyer-seller meet, around 40 businessmen from the Republic of Uzbekistan meet the 22 Indian companies for business dealing in the Pharmaceutical Sector. The interactive meeting indicates that there is excellent scope for the Indian Pharma Industry and most of the delegates intend to visit Uzbekistan once again. Most delegates have also indicated that they would be signing business deals.

The Indian Delegates would also be meeting their Uzbekistan counterparts during the Dinner hosted by Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council on 27 February 2009.

The delegation met representatives of Uzpharmsanoat (Uzbek Pharma Industry) on 28 February and visited the factory thereafter.
