Indian companies to create textile plant in Syrdarya region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Indian companies will invest US$35 million to organization of spinning and weaving production in Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan.

In line with a programme on priorities on industrial development in Uzbekistan in 2011-2015, Spentex Industries and Ginni International will create textile production with the capacity of 11,500 tonnes of cotton yarn a year.

Spentex Industries already owns twp textile enterprises in Uzbekistan. In July 2006.

Spentex Industries LTD acquired Tashkent Toytepa Textile LLC for US$81 million in July 2006. Tashkent Toytepa Textile LLC includes two cotton-spinning plants in Toytepa (Tashkent region) and in Tashkent city.

In 2009, Indian company purchased part of production capacities of Margilan textile plant in Ferghana region for US$7 million. Indian company plans to invest US$36 million to create capacities for production of 13 million meters of fabrics and 16,500 tonnes of cotton yarn.

In line with the target figures of industrial development of Uzbekistan for 2011-2015, Uzbekistan plans to increase cotton yarn production by 2.6 times to 524,000 tonnes by 2015.

The volume of industrial goods production in light industry will grow from 3.927 trillion soums in 2010 to 7.875 trillion soums in 2015. Share of light industry in industrial production will increase from 12.8% in 2010 to 15.6% in 2015.
