Economy 25/11/2008 India-CIS hydrocarbon roundtable begins in New Delhi
As per government figures, Central Asia, including Russia, now account for 15% of oil exports and over 27% of gas exports.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- India-CIS hydrocarbon roundtable starts in New Delhi, India, on 25 November with the participation of energy ministers and policy makers from Central Asian countries.

Two-day event will be attended by energy ministers from Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It is organised by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas of India and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

As per government figures, Central Asia, including Russia, now account for 15% of oil exports and over 27% of gas exports. The estimated oil reserves is about 9% of the world’s total. But its main hydrocarbon asset is natural gas, accounting for nearly 30% of proven gas reserves in the planet.

The roundtable is aimed at exploring possibility of equity investment in the region by Indian companies, but also looking at participation in the India’s exploration industry in annual auction of hydrocarbon assets.
