IMRI experts studied the relationship between the quality of education and indicators of socio-economic development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- IMRI experts studied the relationship between the quality of education and indicators of socio-economic development.

To assess the quality of education, entrance scores to universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan, scored by applicants in the 2022-2023 academic year, were used. As indicators of socio-economic development, the incomes of the population, the level of unemployment and employment, the coverage of children with preschool education and the level of urbanization were used.

The results of the study showed that indicators of socio-economic development and literacy of the population are closely related to each other and have similar dynamics. In particular, in regions with a low level of total income per capita, coverage of children aged 1-6 with preschool education, there is a high proportion of applicants who scored the lowest scores (56.7 points, i.e. 30% of the maximum score). The correlation coefficient is, respectively, -0.41; -0.45 and -0.39.

Urbanization plays an important role in the economic development of the country; the location of manufacturing and service enterprises in cities leads to the creation of permanent jobs and higher well-being than in rural areas. This, in turn, is reflected in the achievement of higher social indicators, including the quality of education. The results show that the average score of graduates in the cities was 78.0, and in other territories - 73.2.

A number of tasks outlined on the video selector for housing construction in the New Uzbekistan arrays and the implementation of the mortgage program for 2023 serve to increase the level of urbanization in the regions.

The analysis showed that the cities of Navoi, Nukus and Bukhara can be exemplary for other regions of the country in terms of the quality of secondary and secondary specialized education. In these cities, the average score of graduates this year was in the range of 89.9 - 94.3. The following places were occupied by Korakul (89.6) and Peshkun (88.6) districts of the Bukhara region. It should be noted that the average scores of graduates also correlate with the income of the population and the level of enrollment in preschool education (correlation coefficients 0.53 and 0.63, respectively).

Among the graduates in terms of the quality of education, Bukhara region is in the lead; graduates of the region scored an average of 85.6 points in the entrance exams. The situation in Navoi, Ferghana regions, the city of Tashkent and the Republic of Karakalpakstan is also relatively favorable than in other regions. The average score of graduates in these regions is noted in the range of 77.0 - 83.4. In Syrdarya, Surkhandarya, Andijan and Tashkent regions, the average score is 69.5 - 72.7.

In addition, the analysis showed a high differentiation in the context of education sectors and the need to increase the attractiveness of some priority sectors. The highest average passing scores of applicants accepted for study on a state grant were scored in such areas as: law (177 points), economics (160 points), humanities (158 points), healthcare (157 points), art (154 points). The lowest scores were scored in such areas as irrigation and melioration (92 points), agricultural engineering (93 points).

The results obtained once again confirm the possibility of solving the problems of everyday life and the socio-economic development of the regions through investment in education.
