IMRI experts conducted a study aimed at identifying new promising markets for the export of Uzbekistan’s products

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – IMRI experts conducted a study aimed at identifying new promising markets for the export of Uzbekistan’s products.

In the course of a study, more than 26,000 pieces of information were collected from January to March this year using the web scraping method (technology for automatically extracting information from web resources) of the go4worldbusiness.com website. 

To identify domestically produced goods with a comparative advantage in world markets, the RCA index (revealed comparative advantage) was calculated. As a result, 25 different types of products were selected, produced mainly in the private sector of the economy. Further, for the found types of products, the RCA index was calculated by regions of the country. Thus, it became possible to give the exporting enterprises of each of the regions of the country-specific recommendations on new directions for exporting their products.

New promising markets for fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, various fruit juices and nuts are such countries as France, Holland, Poland, Spain, Austria, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Kuwait, UAE, Turkiye, Thailand, Qatar, South Korea, Egypt, Saudi Arabia. First of all, exporting enterprises of Namangan, Jizzakh, Khorezm, Samarkand, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions should pay attention to this. Quantitative calculations confirmed the comparative advantages of these regions in the export of these types of products.

Similarly, France, Germany, China, Hong Kong, India, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates may become new destinations for the export of cereals, flour and spices. Exporters of these types of products from Bukhara, Surkhandarya, Samarkand, Fergana, Samarkand and Khorezm regions are advised to consider these directions for export.

European countries (Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Greece, Germany), as well as Turkiye, Great Britain and the United Arab Emirates may become new destinations for the export of men’s and women’s clothing, synthetic fibers and other various textile products. These types of products can be delivered by entrepreneurs of Namangan, Khorezm, Bukhara, Navoi, Andijan and Samarkand regions, as well as Tashkent.

New promising markets for cotton yarn, knitted or crocheted fabrics, silk, carpets, leather and leather products are Germany, Italy, Holland, France, Belgium, Spain, Israel, Qatar, Hong Kong and Thailand. Calculations revealed the advantage in the export of these goods of exporters of Samarkand, Kashkadarya, Andijan, Fergana, Bukhara regions, Tashkent and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

It should be noted that the adaptation of the transport and export infrastructure in the regions to enter these potential markets, the provision of consulting and financial support to exporting enterprises will lead to an increase in export volumes, increase efficiency, accelerate innovation and improve the living standards of the population.
