Improving transport infrastructure: a meeting with World Bank experts was held in the khokimiyat

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 February, in the capital’s khokimiyat, within the framework of the World Bank’s Technical Mission on Innovative Solutions for Urban Mobility, a meeting was held between the Deputy Khokim of Tashkent for the implementation of information technologies, Alexei Khen, with transport analysts Aigerim Nurmakhanova and Jamie Lee-Brai, and also Senior Transport Planner Stuart Clapham. The meeting was held with the participation of the head of JSC "Toshshahartranskhizmat" Anvar Juraev.

During the talks, the parties discussed the possibilities of bilateral cooperation in the public urban transport system and the implementation of joint projects. Alexey Khen stressed that the large-scale reforms of public transport being carried out in the country today are based on the priority choice of city residents.

The implementation of the joint project is planned based on the results of data collection, analysis and monitoring of public transport for the period from the 4th quarter of 2022 to January 2023, conducted by foreign transport experts.

In addition, the guests presented solutions to improve the quality of public transport in Tashkent, namely: creating a safe environment for passengers, both in terms of road and gender security, unloading passenger traffic during peak hours, creating comfortable conditions in transport, the ability to quickly overcome the route , transition to an electronic payment method and other aspects.

The parties discussed the mechanisms for implementing projects to improve the transport infrastructure.
